Hotel Information: Inviting to couples and families, Ariel Sands Beach Club sits on 14 acres of green lawns and flowering tropical plants, offering panoramic ocean views amid an ambience of relaxed seclusion. Hammocks strung between palm trees exemplify the resort's restful nature.
Amenity highlights: In addition to a medium-size heated freshwater pool, the resort features two saltwater pools fed by the ocean along the shore. The pools run parallel to one another, with the closer to the shore shallow enough for children. It measures 45 by 30 feet. The other pool measures 90 by 30 feet. Adjacent lie 100 yards of pink sand along the turquoise ocean.
Insider tip: Tracing its lineage on the island to 1630, the Dill family is one of the oldest in Bermuda. The property on which the resort stands has been in the family since the 1840s. Family members remain shareholders and include actor Michael Douglas, son of a Dill (Diana), and actor/father Kirk Douglas. Photographs of Michael Douglas and other Dill family members adorn public rooms. Although he and actress/wife Catherine Zeta-Jones own a house on Bermuda, they and their children still pay occasional visits to the resort.
This Bermuda resort offers 47 air-conditioned guestrooms, suites, and cottages in 12 two-story pink-and-white buildings terraced on 14 acres of lawns and gardens above a pink-sand beach.
Renovated in 2002–03, guest accommodations feature colonial-plantation decor of warm-tone furniture and pastel fabrics set against pastel-colored walls and white ceilings. Headboards include woven rattan. Rooms have balconies or patios, coffeemakers, and televisions with U.S. cable channels.
